Medical tourism happens where the health care industry and the tourism industry overlap. In order for the government to promote medical tourism, these two industries need to be promoted. This will eventually create a trickle down effect on the medical tourism industry. Improving a countries infrastructure costs heaps of money and lots of time. The more direct support for the medical tourism industry through the organization of promotional events and the removal of administrative hurdles (specific visa requirements, taxes or import duties) costs much less and shows faster results. Still, both need to happen and both are not coming fast enough for representatives of the Indian medical tourism industry. Read more…
