A good post appeared on an interesting little website quite similar to MediThai. The HealthAbroad.net website looks at medical tourism as a global phenomenon, but from an Indian perspective. Pretty much like MediThai, just that our greatest interest is usually reserved for developments in Thailand.
The article and post I am referring to is the story of a patient who traveled abroad for treatment and died shortly after surgery.
What I found quite scary when reading the article is based on how little information some people make important decisions. A TV program, a quick search on the Internet and off they go, hop on a plane and fly to a country so very different to their own.
Until now the majority of medical tourists, at least those I got to know, were well traveled people with above average educational levels. With medical tourism becoming more and more a mass phenomenon, the number of accidents like the one described will undoubtebly go up.
