The Samitivej Hospital in Sukhumvit is the last in a row of Thai hospitals to open an international department which helps medical tourists with visa matters. For patients who need to extend their stay in a foreign country due to the medical procedures they are undergoing, visa problems is one of the last things they need. Opening a department which cooperates with immigration authorities to take this concern off the shoulders of international patients is an expression of how seriously a hospital takes its medical tourism business. Congratulations! Clearly a move in the right direction.

MediThai might want to check out the new book, “Beauty from Afar,” to be released in North America next month by Stewart, Tabori & Chang of New York. It is about the phenomenon of medical tourism.
I wrote it, so my apology for the self-promotion; but I thought it would be of interest. See www.beautyfromafar.com for more information. The CEO of Bumrungrad International, Curtis Schroeder, contributed the afterword of the book.
